Thus, communications is one of those key elements to be planned for. One partner in that planning are commercial companies that provide telecommunications services. In this podcast I interview T-Mobile and two members of their Emergency Response Team. https://www.govtech.com/em/emergency-blogs/disaster-zone/disaster-zone-podcast-t-mobiles-emergency-response-team -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

By Ian Sherr and Eli Blumenthal Verizon's plan to shut down its 3G network at the end of this year wasn't a surprise to most people, who by now are largely using phones powered by 4G or 5G technology. But the carrier's move did mean the relatively few people who still rely on older phones only capable of 3G signals would be left in the dark come New Year's Eve. Now, Verizon says, it'll start sending free 4G-capable phones to those affected customers. The new phones, though, aren't like the typical gifts Verizon uses to entice customers, like a free iPhone 13 or Samsung Galaxy S22. Instead, they're Star Trek-like flip phones, including the Orbic Journey V, TCL Flip Pro and Nokia 2720 V Flip. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/verizon-is-sending-poorly-reviewed-4g-flip-phones-to-customers-still-using-3g/ -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

Here's how that went. I somehow got two years of usage out of Google Fi before being suspended. By Hadlee Simons Google Fi is definitely one of the better mobile plans out there, offering easy-to-understand rates, generous out-of-bundle data service, and the same $10 per GB data price in over 100 countries. The service is only meant for US customers, though, but I ended up using Google Fi in my home country of South Africa for roughly two years. Here's how that went. https://www.androidauthority.com/google-fi-international-usage-opinion-3169701/ -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

What are the PUC-regulated options among the replacements? AFAIK, Internet service is not considered a utility and isn't subject to any regulation, state or federal. If telephone voice service is added to a more modern connection scheme (wireless or fiber, for example) is any part of the bundle under PUC regulation? I'm in California, if that matters. Thanks for reading, bob prohaska
