Donald Trump himself tried to promote the perpetually dishonest One America News and Newsmax - and solely because they were willing to suck up to him and promote thoroughly debunked claims of supposed election fraud and share his near-bottomless well of made-up "evidence." Well, bad news and good news: Newsmax is likely going to be a boil on America's rear end for a while yet, but OAN appears to be on much shakier ground. The far-right propaganda network lost its major backer, AT&T's DirectTV, a few months ago. Now Verizon is dropping the network from its own service, Fios. https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2022/7/27/2112996/-OAN-now-spiraling-down-the-drain-as-Verizon-joins-AT-T-in-dropping-the-hoax-promoting-network -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

In a July 25 letter sent to European lawmaker Sophie in 't Veld, EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said iPhone maker Apple had told him in 2021 that his iPhone had possibly been hacked using Pegasus, a tool developed and sold to government clients by Israeli surveillance firm NSO Group. https://tinyurl.com/mwr88bh -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly)

On July 30, the telecommunications giant Verizon decides that it will terminate its contract with One America News, shutting the door on over 17 years of history together. Now, apparently, Verizon has been telling their customers that OAN refused to cooperate and we just wouldn't work with them on a deal, basically blaming us for not renewing the contract. But that is a flat-out lie. And here to explain what really happened is the founder and owner of One America News, Robert Herring. https://www.mediamatters.org/one-america-news-network/oan-founder-claims-verizon-declined-air-channels-free-promises-network -- (Please remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ***** Moderator's Note ***** I've never met Robert Herring, nor have I ever seen any program from "One America News." I published this story lede because the story describes wild accusations against Verizon, and is therefore in the David_probably_gets_his_arse_kicked_by_Goliath category. Bill Horne Moderator
