Steffens, who also serves as Co-Chair of the Worker Power Coalition, said, “As someone who was fired for union organizing, I know firsthand how dangerous it is to leave union-busting CEOs unchecked. Whether it’s Starbucks workers in Memphis, an Amazon warehouse worker in New York, or a Verizon retail worker in Seattle, the fact is that far too many workers are being fired for exercising their right to form a union and demand the better working conditions they have earned. The NLRB must receive the full funding it needs to hold these billionaire CEOs accountable.” Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ro Khanna (Calif.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Jamaal Bowman (N.Y.), and Andy Levin (Mich.), as well as International Union of Painters and Allied Trades President Jimmy Williams, were among the other speakers at the press conference. https://cwa-union.org/news/worker-power-update-58

By Daniel Kline Many Comcast>customers have little decent choice when it comes to internet, and while streaming seems to have made a cable subscription optional, that’s not entirely true. If you want the full array of local channels and access to all the broadcast networks for sports, you pretty much need a traditional cable subscription. https://www.thestreet.com/technology/comcast-doubles-down-on-shady-billing-practice-price-hike

The new owners of the business, that has some 40 employees, come from the management of Ericsson’s Russian subsidiary, the company said in a statement. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/telecom-equipment-maker-ericsson-divests-084440630.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIvRjMXK6GpnKu77u3ix_HHJpnq4QjwyEHY3gZLJpVntotqILiaJAJ6-0XDVWq5x0FrQFiREe981yLe1m6IDaA1hAAWRQZPus0un0ZypJ-_9WOjibRYH-deDM2ku0IOy2Hri7bM6BWntRgOQ2sDLVF_uApDour53jp7h27BjOJTa

As a result, the company is requesting a waiver of some FCC rules designed to block robocalls. In its FCC filing, Verizon argues that it has long worked to block all kinds of robocalls and that this scenario doesn’t pose a robocall threat to its customers. Also, according to Verizon, it would be unnecessarily expensive to implement a technology that could block toll-free robocalls from foreign consumers that terminate at US call centers. https://www.lightreading.com/broadband/verizon-asks-for-narrowly-targeted-waiver-to-fcc-robocall-rules/d/d-id/782375

RealPage, Inc., a real estate software and data analytics company, is facing class action litigation and a federal investigation over whether it is facilitating a data-driven rental property cartel with landlords and property managers, driving up the prices renters pay each month. A federal antitrust class action complaint has been filed against the company and several of its property management clients in federal court in San Diego on behalf of renters who claim they paid inflated rental prices as the result of the defendants’ conspiracy to stifle competition (Bason, et al. v. RealPage, Inc., et al., No. 3:22-cv-01611-WQH-MDD, S.D. Calif., Oct. 18, 2022). https://www.natlawreview.com/article/suspected-running-rental-housing-cartel-realpage-faces-litigation-and-federal?utm_content=cab66dda13d32052a4837880ecfa79ce&utm_source=Robly.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2022-12-14NLRCybersecurity+Legal+News

I used to wonder why rents were always going up. I guess we’re all a bit too innocent for our own good.
